The Dilapidated Diva

On The Verge...

  • Australia

Strap yourself in for a utterly wild ride as award-winning The Dilapidated Diva fills you with song, laughter and high stakes improvisation – musically, esoterically and hysterically – entertainment like no other.

She will take you on a roller coaster ride, tearing a hole in the universe we all know and share. This show is so hearty, it will have your heart racing triple time and gob-smacked at the contradictions of humanities – including ourselves – bringing you back to the most important thing of all... LOVE.

The Diva’s ability to improvise her way out of a handkerchief is a true joy to experience.

Her tight expert one-piece pianist is the incredible Justin Holland. Together they reinvent jazz, classic disco and epic pop – bounding between story and song, taking musical leaps in seamlessly rich improvisation.

The creation of Melbourne singer-performer Emma Bathgate - The Diva was born on the streets of Fitzroy in the very late '90s, She has crawled all the great venues of the inner north, sung on trams, in gutters and has performed on stages locally, nationally and internationally in Istanbul, Turkey – that ended in her being dunked in the Bosporus repeatedly… and left to rot… but watch out… NOW SHE'S BACK!

The Dilapidated Diva has been awarded The Green Room Award for Most Outstanding Cabaret Award, Best of the Melbourne Fringe and Best Newcomer of Melbourne International Comedy Festival. She performed as part of Adelaide Cabaret Festival, many Melbourne Fringe Festivals, the Sydney Cabaret Convention, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, in Istanbul at a strange club somewhere…. and seasons residences at Bar Open Fitzroy, Yelza Bar Gertrude St Fitzroy, Toff In Town, Butterfly Club, Black Cat, Trades Hall, Black Box at the Arts Centre, Theatre Works and gutters streets of NAARM Melbourne, as well as many private births, birthdays, life and death celebrations.
