Annie Louey & Miranda Hill
Putting the Us in Uterus
Comedian Annie Louey and musician Miranda Hill have one uterus between them. Watch as they smash the stigma of women’s health with stand-up, improv and music.
Annie and Miranda met at a night class for adults learning Chinese. When they found out they were both performers, they quickly ditched the Chinese and started bonding over their shared sense of humour.
A decade later, both of them experienced women’s health issues that required major surgery. Miranda had a hysterectomy and Annie had a fibroid the size of an orange removed (why do doctors always measure serious medical conditions with fruit? Pregnancy included.)
They shared many hilarious tales with each other about their farcical medical debacles – and so, this show was born (metaphorically, not literally).
Annie is a former Moosehead Award recipient, who has appeared on Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow. She has been featured on various ABC TV programs, including Australian Story, China Tonight, Back Roads and Cross Border Comedy, a documentary about stand-up in Asia.
Miranda is a double bassist and won the Victorian Luminary Award at the 2023 APRA/AMCOS Art Music Awards. She is the Artistic Director of Homophonic! a cult queer chamber music series.
