Deadly Funny competition rules
Rules for entry
- Open to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders aged 18 and over (if you are under 18, check our the Class Clowns program here)
- Acts should be a 3-5 minute yarn max!
- Acts can be 1-3 people
- Routines must be original – if you share a joke we think we have heard before – we’ll let you know in the workshop
- Acts can be stand-up, musical, sketch, physical/dance or character based
National Grand Final
- A selected number of participants (national finalists) from heats across the country will be selected to perform at the Deadly Funny National Grand Final at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival
- If you're a national finalist not based in Melbourne the Festival takes care of your flights
- The national Deadly Funny winner receives a $3,000 cash prize!
Other conditions of entry
- By entering you agree to: the audio and/or visual recording of your spot by the Festival (or other bodies as authorised by the Festival) for use in whole or part in any manner the Festival considers appropriate including for associated promotional purpose in or in association with the Deadly Funny program; and alignment with potential Festival sponsors. You promise us that you are not using any material or writing (e.g. music) in your spot that you are not allowed to, or that we can't broadcast in turn.
- You may not record your spot without the express permission in advance of the Festival and the person running your heat. Any agreed recording cannot then be published on any platforms, including but not limited to; your personal or other website, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, without express written permission of the Festival.
