Celebrate 40 Years of Laughter with Funny Bone Gin!

To celebrate 40 years of laughs, we have collaborated with a long-term partner to distil a one-off spirit, Funny Bone Gin, that is sure to crack a smile. Crafted by Melbourne Gin Company, this limited-edition release marks our 40th birthday in style, with a gin so good it ticks all three boxes that the Melbourne Gin Company require, “fantastic in a Martini, sensational in a Gin and Tonic, and… it has to be great in a Negroni”.

What is more fitting for the Melbourne Comedy Festival’s 40th birthday gin, than humour-promoting botanicals? Melbourne Gin Company founder Andrew Marks, researched botanicals that seemed fitting for the occasion. All paths led to damiana, a small woody shrub that produces wonderful aromatic flowers. Folklore suggests that damiana was associated with producing good humour (and even noted to be an aphrodisiac).

Alongside damiana, Funny Bone Gin includes fig leaf from Andrew’s property in Gembrook, and a zesty hit from a lesser-known citrus called the lemonade fruit. Together these three make up the base for our gin, with some accentuated juniper and hits of orange, which founder Andrew believes have "almost spiritual association" with smiles.

Exclusive to Dan Murphy’s, Funny Bone Gin has been distilled to be versatile and enjoyed however you please. No matter how you serve it, ice cold and with a laugh is best, after all, it’s not called Funny Bone Gin for nothing!
