Relaxed performances are designed to create a more comfortable and sensory-friendly environment. They can be helpful for many people.

This includes neurodivergent people, people with learning disabilities, dementia, or anxiety, and people who have experienced trauma. They may also be helpful for people who experience sensory processing differences, including people with autism or ADHD.

Each relaxed performance is different. It may include:

  • Less intense lighting and sound
  • Doors that stay open
  • Access to a quiet space
  • House lights that stay on
  • Being able to make noise and move around
  • Pre-show resources to help you prepare

Relaxed performances are marked on show pages using a blue circle in the calendar view.

More information about the relaxed elements may be included in the event description. Further information may be shared with you before the show.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
